Bible Verses to Review
(click the Bible references to expand them)
  1. The Holy Bible is inspired by God:
2 Timothy 3:16,17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.

  1. Bible prophecy is trustworthy:
2 Peter 1:19

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereto you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.

  1. Jesus Christ fulfilled Old Testament prophecies:
  • Old Testament Prophecy: The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem
Micah 5:2

But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall He come forth to Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

  • New Testament fulfillment:
Matthew 2:1

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem…

  • Old Testament prophecy: The Messiah would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey:
Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes to you: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

  • New Testament fulfillment:
Matthew 21:1-5

And when they drew near to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying to them, Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them to Me. And if any man say anything to you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and immediately he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell you the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

  • Old Testament Prophecy: The Messiah’s hands and feet would be pierced. His garments would be divided.
Psalm 22:16

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Psalm 22:18

They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

  • New Testament fulfillment:
Matthew 27:35

And they crucified Him, and parted His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Jesus fulfilled over 100 Old Testament prophecies – each of which was written hundreds of years before He was born! No other human being has ever lived such a life. This prophecy-fulfillment phenomenon reveals that the Bible is indeed a supernatural Book, and that we can trust the teachings of its central figure: Jesus Christ.
